Finding Faithfulness

Of all the things we drove away from on that Sunday morning in Cedarville, three things I hated to leave most: my family, our church, and our friendships. All of these things are treasures to us, and we could bring none of them with us.

My family I won't find here. The many phone conversations we've had have been sweet, but I miss them and always will. Yet, I have found faithfulness. God has comforted my longing heart in ways so real, that though I love and treasure my family just the same, mourning our separation now seems futile.

Our once local church, Grace Baptist Church in Cedarville, we won't find here. The faces of those countless people who've invested years into our lives and have shaped our very souls are but precious memories now. Yet, we have found faithfulness. Just last evening, God lead us to a body of believers at the reformed baptist Grace Fellowship Church who welcomed us with hearts wide open, beckoning us to come and be loved by them and worship God with them and grow in Truth with them. We left the doors walking in greater refinement and joy than when we had entered. Praise the sovereign Lord that His church is a universal body, not held captive by geographical boundaries.

The friendships we made in Cedarville, we will not find here. The uniquely edifying relationships with those friends is something we're quickly realizing will never be replaced. Yet, we have found faithfulness. Our God, who delights in bearing good gifts to His children, has given us not only friendships here, but friendships with those who have the common bonds of the Air Force, Cyber Training, and most valuable knowing Jesus. We are still amazed! These friends are already providing encouragement and edification which is uniquely tailored to the needs of our current situation. We pray that we can somehow do the same for them.

So you see, we have found faithfulness. Our God, the sovereign Creator and Lord of all who knows our hearts and never changes, has been faithful to us. We expected nothing less, but the joy experienced when a child can testify again and again to the faithfulness of her Father in only renewed in greater magnitude.  May you experience the full, deep joy of finding faithfulness in our God today.
