Lt. & Mrs. Flack Take Flight

It's official. My husband is a 2LT in the United States Air Force, training to be a Cyber-Space Officer...and I am a military wife. We have our ID's to prove it, and I've made my first trip to the commissary.

First stop: Keesler ABF - Biloxi, MS

  • Hot, humid, but just two minutes from the beach so all is well
  • Southern accents, y'all, and crawfish parties
  • People in uniform, salutes, and massive planes flying overhead

We're in a different culture here. Not only the southern culture, but the military culture as well. Yet though the culture is different, the God is the same. Adjusting will only take time.

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever."
Hebrews 13:8

  1. Welcome to the military family! It will be one of the most trying, bring you to your knees, thrilling and exciting stages of your life! It is such an awesome experience and opportunity to practice what we "preach" in trusting God for each and every step...every second because things in the military are notoriously known for changing so quickly it can make your head spin! Know that there are many in our "family" praying for you and ready to come alongside and encourage! :) Praying our paths may one day cross!

    1. Thank you for your words of love and encouragement, Becky! Thank you for admitting that this journey will be hard, but that it will make us more like Jesus in the end. How wonderful it would be to cross paths with you and your family again someday!

  2. I love your blog! You're so creative! Its so great to be able to know what's going on with you guys! I've been to Biloxi twice, once for hurricane katrina relief and last spring to visit my brother (who's station on the navy base in gulfport). It was a COMPLETE culture change, so true! We also took a tour of the bayou and of new Orleans! The food is so different too, all that jumbo stuff!:)haha We'll be praying for you guys as you adjust to all the many changes!
    God bless!

  4. This brings back such memories for me. I remember getting my military ID and moving away from family for the first time. It does take time to adjust, but you and Nathan are so personable that you'll make great friends in no time. And let me say, the military friends you make will be some of the best and those friendships will last a lifetime. I look back and am so thankful for that time away, it grew my marriage to Eric in many ways. And of course, your faith in God will grow too. Thank you for writing this blog so we can all enjoy your adventure with you. We love you "ya'll" and are praying for you!
