Joys of a Weekend Getaway

Last weekend, Nathan and I went to visit his brother who's living just two hours east of us for the summer. It was wonderful to see Robby in his leadership role with Student Mobilization and to spend some short, but very quality time with him. We are so blessed to have such a Godly man as our brother, who is actively proclaiming the good news of Christ to the world.

If all we had gained from the weekend was seeing Robby, it would have been well worth it! But, as it turns out, a few other joys came out of the weekend away as well.

First, we stopped on our way at the TatoNut Shop in Ocean Springs! I have always been a sucker for a good donut, but what makes these especially great is that they're made fresh every morning with potato flour! Who knew?! They were de-licious.

Another sweet joy was the beautiful scenery along I-10, which runs right along the gulf coast! It's fun for us to experience another side of God's beautiful creation here. The vast cornfields we came from definitely hold their fair share of beauty, but the water makes for a lovely change.

While visiting Robby, we were so blessed to stay with a sweet family who are fellow staff members of his.  The best part was that they had two precious little children; a boy almost 2 yrs. old, and a girl about 4 mos. old. They reminded me so much of my dear nephew, Wyatt, and my sweet niece, Adelyn! How I loved loving on them!

Finally, as part of Robby’s ministry, a relationships conference was being held over the weekend, and we were able to attend with him! Nathan and I learned such practical principles for enhancing our relationship with each other as well as with others. We were able to process through the conference together, and it changed us and enhanced our marriage in ways we never would have anticipated! As a result of the speakers' recommendation, I began listening to the book Stepping Heavenward by Elizabeth Prentiss. I so highly recommend it to women of all ages! You can find a free download of the book at www.booksshouldbefree.com.

So, there you have it. The joys of our weekend getaway. We returned to our home sweet home feeling blessed, comforted, refreshed and changed.

"For I have derived much joy and comfort from your love, my brother, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you."
Philemon 1:7
