Nathan and I received a Christmas gift from my parents this year that we are realizing the value of more and more every day. Mom and Dad gave us the CD series "Getting to the Heart of Parenting," by Paul David Tripp. While driving across the country and finding a few quiet evenings here at home, we've managed to finish the series.
It might seem a little premature to some of you that we would be listening to a series on parenting. After all, our little boy has yet to even take his first breath! But every day, Nathan and I feel the weight of parenting a child bearing down on us just a little more. Yes, we understand that being parents is an unbelievable privilege, and we expect to find great joy in it. But we also are confronted with our own sinfulness each day, and we wonder how God could really trust us with one of His precious children.
In his series, "Getting to the Heart of Parenting," Paul Tripp walks through the stages of a child's life and brings exceptional biblical insight into how we as parents can most effectively raise that child to fear God and treasure Christ. Tripp has an amazing ability to speak the truth of God's word in a powerful, straightforward, applicable way. Nathan and I were soaking up his words and treasure the wisdom he shared in this series on parenting. Might I recommend it to you?
