The next four summers I spent at the Swaims' household. I cared for, worked with, and played with their kids. I cooked meals for them and their father, who faithfully worked to maintain the family farm. I found myself in the middle of pig stalls, bee stings, bike rides, and building projects. I walked with them through joys and trials. Their home became my home. Luke and Lilly became my younger siblings, and Doug & Teresa became my second set of parents. I had a second family whom I quickly grew to love and treasure just as my first.
A week ago, Nathan and I traveled a few hours to Panama City Beach where the Swaims were vacationing and spent an evening with them! How sweet it was to see familiar Cedarville faces, especially the faces of family. We talked, ate, laughed, walked, and prayed together. That short time was a tremendous encouragement to me and Nathan! I was reminded of how blessed I was to be adopted into their family, learn from them, and grow with them.

The "kids" are bigger than I am now, but they'll always be my little siblings. : ) |

"Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change."
